“Telling Our Stories Through Poetry”, coordinated and directed by Judith Simon Butler, pays tribute to the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The play is recommended for all ages, specifically youth groups.

11th Annual Sunshine’s Roast and Toast

James “JR” Riles, a businessman and community leader, will be roasted and toasted, Tuesday, October 10, 2023 beginning at 7PM.  Each year, “JR,” along with Augusta Recreation and Parks Department, hosts his annual Out of School Block Party. Roasters and Toasters will include Former Commissioner Marion Williams, Attorney Keith Johnson, Chief Ronnie Few, and more!!

Admission to the Roast is $50 and a table of 8 is $400.

Proceeds benefit the Mariah McKie Butler Memorial College Book Scholarship, which is awarded to Augusta Mini Theatre students that have been in the program for 4 or more years.

Telling Our Stories Through Poetry

Through poetry, monologues, songs, dance, and more, “Telling Our Stories Through Poetry is the saga of how we were snatched from our Africa, yet we persist in our hopes and dreams to spread the message that this generation is not all lost.

A play in two acts, this production reinforces the local and international impact left by James Brown, while teaching lessons in history, self-reliance, and the human spirit.

Caged

“Caged”, written by Tyrone J. Butler and directed by Judith Simon-Butler, is a story about slaves and its descendants of segregation, 1619-1970, being housed likening to an unlicensed zoo for the untamed.
